Why dont they integrate this technology with offshore wind farms. The float can bob up and down on the shaft of the wind turbine, and you get the best of both.

Thank you for an interesting video. I hope this time it will actually work! I'm a little curious how the energy is brought on shore and how this ties in to the whole intermittency/storage issue. Can combinations with wind/solar mitigate that issue?

Cycloidal propellers on boats do not have to worry about carrying the weight of the craft. No matter which way they thrust, the upthrust from the water against something which is overall less dense than water. For aircraft, which are heavier than air, the failure of the prop without a lifting aerofoil means the ground is an inevitable and unwanted destination.

I had a similar idea but instead of wave powered it would be tidal powered. You would have a weight at the bottom of the ocean with a cable going up to the buoy that would lock in at low tide and release at high tide, then the cable would go around a spool that would be hooked up to a gear system and an electric motor. The great thing about this is that it can generate power at predictive intervals.

It would be interesting to hear about how the units deal with tidal shifts. With the rigid mooring systems, it appears that they only work at a set depth. That would mean that with a high tide or a low tide, the units would be inoperable due to being over extended/retracted and would just lock in place. There would have to me some way of controlling the length of the mooring rod connecting the units to the seabed and I don't remember this being covered by the video.

Wave energy could have been done a hundred years ago, but it was the petrol mania already building up and establishing in the 1950s and selling toxic petrochemicals and nanoplastics in the 1980s Wave energy can be easily done in an artificial wave reef to absorb wave impact on floor, or air piston chambers on port and rather than produce electricity we don't need ( as well countless if useless electric devices) it can produce compressed air for neumatic energy to power any mechanical appliance, machine or tool while concentrated solar can be used for cooking and solar distillation desalination, while also fridge compressors can be powered by wind turbines shaft, etc

Wonder how well would do in a lake or a loch. I mean the great lakes and all the lochs and channels could be a good place for some, that is safer and easier to set up. I think Huron or superior might be good at least, think those are the rougher lakes with a lot of waves.

This does NOT take up less space / is not lighter: "The 300 kW rated power C4 WEC is 9 m in diameter, 19 m tall, and has a mass of around 60 tonnes" A GE 1.5 MW (5x the power) Wind turbine: 70 m tower (3.7x) and is 164 tons (2.73) Infomercials like this are the worst. Stop copy pasting their marketing material and do 5 minutes of research.

I don’t think that your description of how the heart works is correct. As I understand it the main chamber of the heart pumps blood all around the body and the oxygen depleted blood returns to the second chamber of the heart. Then the second stroke, the Diastolic stroke or referred to the resting stroke pumps the blood through the lungs to re oxygenate it and that flows into the main chamber for the Systolic stroke to do the process all over again. I think that is how it works. I do like the idea of using wave action to generate power though. I live on a boat and am looking for ways to generate more power during the non daylight period. I like their rack and pinion drive approach, and that got me thinking of how I can utilise the movement of my boat to generate some power. My 5 minute notion is to have a long vane on each side of my hull with a leading edge pivot point where a power generation device of some kind is built in. The 2 “paddles” would generate power as the boat rocks with the waves while sailing. These paddles could also act as stabilisers too. That is worthy of an experiment. The big problem is how to turn small pivot angular movements into energy. I think I will start with, rather than a rack and pinion, a high ratio gear drive. Even if it only generated 200 watts while sailing that will be some 5 kilowatt hours in a 24 hour period. That has a lot of potential, so thanks for the inspiration.
